Thermal energy from biomass at Mohota Mills

The Rai Saheb Rekhchand Mohota Spinning & Weaving Mills Ltd. (RSRML) is engaged in the business of textile manufacturing.

The project activity has been implemented to displace these coal fired units with biomass (rice husk) fired boiler and thermic fluid heater to meet the thermal energy requirements. The coal fired units are stoker fired and having low efficiency thereby leading to high coal consumption. The project activity involves the installation of fluidized bed combustion (FBC) type boiler and thermic fluid heater which have higher efficiency as compared to the earlier units. Thus the project activity leads to greenhouse gas emission reduction due to the displaced fossil fuel and improved efficiency.

6 MW biomass based grid connected power generation by M/s. Armstrong Energy Pvt. Ltd. (AEPL)

M/s. Armstrong Energy Pvt. Ltd. (AEPL) has installed a 6 MW biomass based power plant at Nashik. The project activity utilizes the surplus available biomass in the region as fuel in its plant and supplies clean electricity to the state grid. Conventional coal based power plant has been replaced by biomass (bagasse) based power plant which has led to reduction in emission and also ensured the sustainable development of the region.
Biomass based thermal energy generation by M/s Priyadarshini Sahakari Soot Girni Ltd. at Shirpur in Maharashtra

The project activity is implemented by M/s Priyadarshini Sahakari Soot Girni Ltd. for thermal energy generation using biomass as a fuel instead of coal. The project activity involves, generation of heat energy in a steam boiler in the form of steam and a thermopac oil heater, where thermic fluid is heated to high temperature.
Energy efficiency initiative of KDHP by replacing ICLs with CFLs at Munnar, Kerala state, India

The project activity is implemented by Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company Pvt. Ltd. (KDHP) in Munnar, District Idukki of Kerala, which has adopted energy conservation measures. This is achieved by efficient use of electricity through the adoption of self-ballasted compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) to replace incandescent lamps (ICLs).
Eco-friendly manufacturing of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Panels and Blocks byusing fly ash at Powerdeal Energy Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd., Nashik

Powerdeal Energy Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd. is involved in the manufacturing of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Panels and Blocks (AACP&B) as an alternative building material to the traditional burnt clay bricks used for construction. The project activity helps in the reduction of GHG emission by completely eliminating the burning of fossil fuels required in the clay brick production.
Supply side energy efficiency improvement project implemented by KDHP, at Munnar, Kerala state, India.

The project activity is started in June 2007 by Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company Pvt. Ltd. (KDHP) in Munnar Taluka, Idukki District of Kerala. The project activity envisages to improve the supply side energy efficiency by minimizing the transmission and distribution loss at its distribution network at places identified by the company as areas of greater transmission and distribution loss.
Biogas generation from solid waste by using Nisargruna Technology developed by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre

The proposed project activity is installation of biogas plant to process the biodegradable wastes, which would otherwise have disposed off to Municipal Corporation land filling sites leading to emission of GHG, a potent methane gas, contributing to global warming.

The biogas generated from the project activity is used as a fuel for domestic purpose as well as in the boiler to generate thermal energy and electricity. The residue generated in the project activity is used as a organic manure.
Animal Waste Management System for GHG mitigation by composting at Vasai, India.          

The project activity has been implemented by Organic Bio-fertilizers at Vasai, Maharashtra. It aims to operate aerobic processing facility that treats waste from 10,000 cows per day. The animal waste that is currently dumped into the lagoons leading to anaerobic conditions will be collected at the composting site. The aerobic composting is one of the manure management option that reduce emissions of methane and nitrous oxide that otherwise would have emitted in the absence of project activity
Reforestation project ‘Green Deolali - Green Sahyadri’ implemented at HQ School of Artillery (HQ SoA) Nasik, India

The plantation activity has been proposed over an area of 1000 ha of degraded land belonging to Headquarter School of Artillery (HQ SoA), Deolali Cantonment, Nasik. The project activity is distributed in different villages of district Nasik viz. Shingve bahula, Bhagur, Ambad budrak, Lohvit, Lohsingve, Vanjarwadi, Pimpalgaon khamb, Dadhegaon, Nadur bahula, Gaulane, Ambe bahula and other. The plant species selected for the reforestation activity includes long lasting trees such as Shirish, Neem, Palash, Karanj, Jatropha, False Asoka, Mango, Badam, etc.

Reforestation of degraded lands in Uttarakhand by using Jatropha curcas plantation with active participation and empowerment of local population

Project activity is aimed at restoring deforested and degraded land in Uttarakhand through Jatropha curcas plantation. The plantation has been carried out in different parcels of land in 10 districts of State of Uttarakhand covering total area of 20,143 Ha. The primary developer of this plantation activity is Uttarakhand Biofuel Board (UBB) and has initiated the project through village level organization known as “Van Panchayat”
